Baku: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's National Assembly, on the sidelines of the 15th General Assembly of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in Baku. Al Saleh underscored the shared parliamentary commitment to strengthening Bahrain-Azerbaijan ties through legislative cooperation and fostering parliamentary partnerships. He highlighted ongoing collaboration in the parliamentary, trade, and tourism sectors, emphasizing its role in advancing mutual interests.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh noted that both countries share aligned views on key issues, particularly in promoting peace and coexistence, expressing optimism about further strategic steps to enhance bilateral relations. Al Saleh commended Azerbaijan's efforts in hosting parliamentary meetings and commended Gafarova's leadership within the APA and the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network. He also lauded Azerbaijan's successful organisation of the APA sessions, underscoring its capacity to host high-level parliamentary conferences.
On her part, Gafarova highlighted the growing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Bahrain and underscored the commitment to further enhance relations. She congratulated Bahrain on its election as APA president for 2026, pledging support to strengthen the association's role in advancing inter-parliamentary collaboration across Asia. She also commended Bahrain's parliamentary delegations for their active engagement and constructive contributions, acknowledging the commitment of Shura Council and Council of Representatives members to parliamentary dialogue at regional and international forums.
