Moscow: Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, met with Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, in Moscow. The meeting took place during Al Saleh's official visit to Russia, marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bahrain and Russia. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in legislative, economic, and developmental areas.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Saleh highlighted the strong and growing relationship between Bahrain and Russia, attributing its success to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Russian President Vladimir Putin. He acknowledged the role of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in advancing bilateral achievements.
Al Saleh recalled several royal visits by His Majesty the King to Russia over the past 25 years, which have led to the signing of numerous agreements and memorandums. He emphasized the expansion of collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, education, food security, energy, and cultural exchange.
Additionally, Al Saleh expressed gratitude for Russia's support during Bahrain's election to a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 term, underlining Bahrain's commitment to promoting peace and global stability.
Valentina Matvienko, on her part, stressed that the visit would enhance parliamentary cooperation and legislative exchange. She acknowledged Bahrain's rapid development and its achievements in coexistence, tolerance, and women empowerment, describing the Kingdom as a model for religious harmony and social diversity.
Matvienko highlighted that Russian-Bahraini relations are built on mutual respect and shared objectives, with joint efforts aimed at ensuring sustainable cooperation and coordination that benefits both nations.
