Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee Opens Registration for Heritage Palm Competition

Manama: The Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth) has launched the registration process for the "Nakhlat Al Mawrooth" (Heritage Palm) competition through its official website. This initiative aims to preserve the Kingdom's agricultural traditions and emphasize the cultural significance of the palm tree.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the competition is part of the ongoing efforts guided by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King's Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS). The competition is divided into three main categories: palm pruning, offshoot separation, and the best palm farm. Each category focuses on different aspects of palm cultivation and maintenance, with specific technical criteria that participants must meet.

The committee has announced that the competition is open to farmers and farm owners in Bahrain. Interested individuals can apply online by filling out a digital application form and providing their personal and farm information. For the best farm category, submissions must include at least 50 palm trees.

This event is one of several initiatives by the committee to protect the nation's agricultural heritage and celebrate the palm tree as a symbol of Bahraini identity, deeply rooted in the social and economic fabric of the Kingdom.
