Shura Council and US Congress Delegation Discuss Legislative Collaboration

Manama: Nancy Dinah Elly Khedouri, member of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee and the Human Rights Committee of the Shura Council, and Hala Ramzy Fayez, member of the Services Committee and the Committee on Women and Children's Affairs, received a delegation of the US Congress.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Shura Council members affirmed that the visit contributes to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and their legislative bodies, while also supporting the exchange of institutional and technical expertise relevant to parliamentary work.

The delegation was briefed on the legislative processes of the Shura Council, its cooperation with the Council of Representatives and the Government, and the role of the Council in advancing democratic practices and supporting development and modernisation efforts in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Discussions also addressed Bahrain's ambitions in the field of space science, its growing role in promoting innovation, and its efforts in digital transformation, where the Shura Council has introduced pioneering practices to integrate technology into parliamentary work.

The US delegation commended the Council's digital and technological advancements, describing them as a reflection of a clear institutional vision focused on modernisation and delivering high-quality legislative and administrative performance aligned with the Kingdom's development goals.

The General Secretariat also delivered a presentation outlining the Council's structure and responsibilities, the functions of its committees, current legislative topics under discussion, and coordination mechanisms between the Shura Council, the Council of Representatives, and the Government, in addition to the Secretariat's role in supporting the Council's members.
