Shaikh Salman Bin Mohammed Opens Inaugural World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championship.

Manama: Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), inaugurated the first World Para Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2024, held in Bahrain from November 26 to 29 with the participation of 127 athletes from 21 countries. The opening ceremony took place at Isa bin Rashid Hall in Isa Sports City, drawing several prominent figures and delegation leaders. According to Bahrain News Agency, the event was graced by the presence of Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, and Shaikh Sultan bin Duaij Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF), among other officials. Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed praised the Bahrain Paralympic Committee for its efforts in organizing the championship and highlighted the progress within Bahrain's Paralympic sports sector. He emphasized the leadership's commitment to fostering growth and strengthening Bahrain's achievements on the global sports stage. His commendations exten ded to the organizing committee, as well as the Bahraini administrative, volunteer, and media teams, acknowledging their contributions to the event's success. Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij conveyed his gratitude to Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed for attending the ceremony and supporting Bahrain's Paralympic sports. He highlighted the General Sports Authority's pivotal role in backing the Bahrain Paralympic Committee and aiding the success of its activities at both local and international levels. The championship's opening ceremony included sport demonstrations and a parade of all participating nations. This event represents a significant milestone for Bahrain's Paralympic sports and the discipline of Para Taekwondo Poomsae. It marks the beginning of the sport's journey towards inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games.
