Sentences of Up to 5 Years Handed Down in Cases of Filming Vital Facilities

Manama: The Head of the Terror Crimes Prosecution announced that the Lower Criminal Court has issued rulings in two separate cases related to the unlawful filming and photographing of vital facilities. The sentences range from one to five years of imprisonment. One defendant has also been fined BD100, and items involved in the offenses have been confiscated.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the first case was uncovered by the Anti-Cybercrime Directorate, which monitored a social media account that posted video footage of vital facilities. This led to the arrest of the suspect. In the second case, the other defendant was caught taking photographs of restricted facilities, violating existing laws. Both individuals were subsequently referred to the Public Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution carried out comprehensive investigations, which included questioning the defendants, gathering witness testimonies, and reviewing technical reports. These cases were then brought before the court, which examined the details over several hearings before delivering its judgments.

The Public Prosecution has reiterated its commitment to enforcing laws rigorously and taking decisive legal action against any activities that threaten the security of the Kingdom, endanger vital facilities, or undermine public safety. This approach is in line with efforts to maintain security and stability.
