Manama: The second edition of the 'I'm Talented' Olympic training programme, supported and supervised by Olympic Solidarity, is scheduled to commence on August 10. Organised by the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Sports Field Committee under the Bahrain Olympic Committee, this initiative aims to nurture national sporting talent among youth aged 10 to 17.
According to Bahrain News Agency, a total of 482 athletes have been selected following talent identification tests. The programme is a part of the Bahrain Olympic Committee's broader efforts to prepare a new generation capable of representing the Kingdom in both local and international competitions.
Training will be provided in seven sports: weightlifting, judo, karate, and padel, with a total of 227 participants (137 male and 90 female), and football, volleyball, and basketball, with 215 participants (80 male and 135 female). The venues for these training sessions include the weightlifting hall at the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, the Bahrain Judo and Karate Federation Hall, facilities at the Bahrain Volleyball Association, and Al Hala Club. Training will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., complemented by recreational activities from Thursday to Sunday and an entertainment day on Saturdays.
The programme enjoys sponsorship from AlSaqi Fresh Water and Ice Factory, Batelco, Dar AlHayat Medical Centre, and Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Community Medical Centre. Organisers have noted that this second edition marks a crucial stage in the national Olympic project aimed at identifying and developing champions, thereby contributing to the long-term advancement of sport in Bahrain.
