Manama: Lulwa bint Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has issued Decision (3) of 2025 to establish the Committee for Women working in Nurseries and Kindergartens.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly formed committee will be chaired by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, an SCW member. The committee will include representatives from key ministries and organizations, such as the Ministry of Legal Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, the Directorate of Private Schools Performance Review and Kindergartens at the Ministry of Education, the Labour Fund "Tamkeen", and various nurseries and childcare institutions.
During its fourth meeting of the eighth session on January 29, the SCW, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, tasked the committee with the responsibility of reviewing licensing conditions for nurseries and kindergartens. This review aims to ensure alignment with the Labour Law and social insurance regulations, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
The committee is also set to evaluate related laws, such as the Social Insurance Law and the Early Education Law. This evaluation will address the status of female employees in the sector, focusing specifically on Paragraph (9) of Article III of the Social Insurance Law, in partnership with the Ministry of Legal Affairs and other pertinent authorities.
Moreover, the council has sanctioned additional coordination with Tamkeen to assess wage support programs. This initiative aims to include the early education sector and leverage private sector school experiences to enhance early education curricula.
