SCW participates in World Business Angel Investors Week

The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) has participated in the World Business Angel Investors Week (WBAIW), which aims to support entrepreneurship and start-ups, as well as discuss their allied systems and infrastructure, and ways to invest in financial technology and the international opportunities available to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to obtain the investment capital (angel investment) necessary for their economic growth.

The SCW’s participation in the international event provided an opportunity to learn about the conditions of entrepreneurship and start-ups in the Kingdom, the Middle East and the world, in addition to ways to overcome the global challenges they face in light of the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement about the kingdom’s efforts to support investment and women’s economic participation, SCW Assistant Secretary-General, Shaikha Deena bint Rashid Al Khalifa, said that Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030, which is based on the principles of sustainability, competitiveness and fairness, is among the main motives for boosting the investment atmosphere and supporting entrepreneurs.

She affirmed that the SCW is committed to undertaking its tasks, which include following up on the implementation of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030, noting that the National Plan considers women’s economic participation essential for their progress, and this complements Bahrain’s efforts towards maintaining an economy based on the principle of equal opportunities and increasing the prospects for lifelong learning to enhance women’s competitiveness and advancement in the labour market, and this is applied through the National Gender Balance Model, which has contributed, since its inception, to the advancement of Bahraini women and bridging gaps in all fields.

The SCW’s participation in WBAIW reflects its keenness to exchange expertise and be informed about the best international practices in developing the entrepreneurship and SMEs sector, as well as in removing obstacles facing them, in light of the current global economic conditions, confirming its status as a specialised national centre for women’s affairs.
