SCH President visits Shaikh Jaber, Budaiya health centres

President of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, affirmed that the self-management project at primary healthcare centres is a pioneering and ambitious national venture to optimize primary health services through the family doctor. He stressed the government’s efforts to provide the best health services and achieve comprehensive health coverage, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

In this context, the SCH President paid an inspection visit to Shaikh Jaber Health Centre in Barbar, which is open around the clock as one of nine similar centres across Bahrain. He toured the centre’s departments and praised the outstanding level of the centre and its high readiness.

The SCH President also visited Budaiya Health Centre within the framework of assessing preparations to carry out the self-management project at primary healthcare centres in the Northern Governorate. It is hoped to announce the start of registration in “Choose Your Doctor” programme for citizens in the governorate during the coming period. The project has been carried out in Muharraq as a first phase as part of a plan to generalize it all over Bahrain.

For his part, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Primary Health Care, Dr. Abdel Wahab Mohammed, stressed that the self-management programme aims to transform health centers into self-managed ones in order to improve the quality of healthcare services. He added the project aims to give citizens the freedom to choose and provide therapeutic pathways to develop the quality of services, coordination and communication between service providers, improve control and decision-making processes, and optimize the use of financial and human resources.

For her part, Chief Executive of the Primary Healthcare Centres, Dr. Jalila Sayed Jawad, affirmed that “Choose Your Doctor” programme aims to increase satisfaction of the beneficiaries from the services and boost preventative ones through early detection of diseases.
