Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Supreme Council of Health Chairman, conducted a visit to Salmaniya Medical Complex with the aim of reviewing operations across various medical departments and facilities, focusing on the latest development and digital transformation projects being implemented in government hospitals.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah was welcomed by Dr. Mariam Athbi Al-Jalahma, CEO of Government Hospitals. The Chairman emphasized the need for continued investment in healthcare infrastructure and digital initiatives to further integrate and improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare services. He lauded the medical, nursing, and administrative teams for their professionalism and dedication to patient care.
During his visit, Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah was briefed on current operations at Salmaniya Medical Complex and the measures being taken to enhance service delivery and streamline procedures, thereby improving efficiency and the overall patient experience.
A key highlight of the visit was the review of the new electronic medical records management system, MAK-RMS. This system is pivotal to the digital transformation across government hospitals, providing a secure, integrated platform that links their facilities. It enables healthcare professionals to efficiently access patients' medical information, supporting continuity of care, expediting procedures, and improving clinical decision-making while ensuring adherence to information security and data protection standards.
Dr. Al Jalahma outlined that government hospitals are actively implementing development and digital transformation projects as part of comprehensive plans aimed at improving healthcare quality, strengthening patient safety, and enhancing operational efficiency. She noted that the development of electronic health systems, automation, and digital transformation initiatives are central to building a more integrated, efficient, and sustainable government healthcare system capable of keeping pace with rapid advances in the health sector while enhancing patients' experience and care quality.
The tour encompassed outpatient clinics, including those at the Al Fateh Building, and the Accident and Emergency Unit. Lt. Gen. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah received briefings on the triage system, operational procedures, and services offered to patients, as well as measures to improve response times and the quality and safety of care.
