Chengdu: The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International World Games Association (IWGA) to strengthen cooperation frameworks and expand opportunities for joint development in non-Olympic sports, on the sidelines of the 12th World Games "Chengdu 2025".
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU aims to establish a strategic partnership based on exchanging expertise, developing technical and sports programmes, and opening broader horizons for hosting major international events in the Kingdom. The agreement seeks to enhance collaboration between the two organizations, focusing on the development of non-Olympic sports and increasing Saudi Arabia's involvement in international sporting events.
The partnership is expected to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources, enabling both the SOPC and IWGA to benefit from each other's strengths. This collaboration aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader goals of promoting sports and attracting international events to the region. By hosting significant sports events, the Kingdom aims to boost its global presence in the sports sector and provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talents on an international stage.
