Saudi Arabia and South Sudan Discuss Boosting Industrial and Mining Ties

Riyadh: Bandar Alkhorayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, held a meeting with Atong Kuol Juuk, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Sudan, to strengthen industrial and mining cooperation between the two countries. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 11th Ministerial Conference of Least Developed Countries (LDCMC11), hosted in Riyadh.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the two sides explored means to strengthen industrial and mining cooperation. They discussed how South Sudan could benefit from the Kingdom's experience with smart industrial cities and expanding food processing. They also looked at opportunities to work more closely in mining and minerals to help improve the resilience of global supply chains.

The discussions coincided with the convening of LDCMC11, organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to facilitate access to finance, promote the exchange of knowledge and technology, stimulate trade, and support the integration of Least Developed Countries (LDCs) into regional and global value chains.
