Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Strengthen Ties at Coordination Meeting on Investment and Infrastructure

Dammam: Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, led Bahrain's delegation at the third Saudi-Bahraini coordination meeting focused on investment, environment, and infrastructure held at Dhahran Expo in Dammam. The Saudi delegation was spearheaded by Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Falih, Minister of Investment.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed praised the robust historical ties and strategic partnership between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The minister highlighted the development of bilateral cooperation, especially through the Bahrain-Saudi Coordination Council, co-chaired by Bahrain's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

The meeting spotlighted several key projects and initiatives, such as the establishment of an investment company in Bahrain, collaboration in the aluminium sector, digital entrepreneurship coordination, and AI and technology training programs. It also covered projects funded by the Saudi Fund for Development. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing investment promotion, environmental cooperation, food security, and urban planning.

Progress on infrastructure projects, including the railway and parallel bridge to King Fahd Causeway targeted for completion by December 2030, was also reviewed. Plans for improving air and sea transport connectivity and civil aviation security were discussed, highlighting the shared commitment to advancing cooperation in investment, transportation, ICT, infrastructure, logistics, and environmental protection.

Al Falih emphasized the dedication to developing economic ties and trade cooperation, aligning with the directives of both nations' leaderships. He noted the significant role of the Bahrain-Saudi Coordination Council in fostering business growth, trade exchange, and investment sustainability. The meeting also reviewed ongoing initiatives and the work of task forces aimed at enhancing integration in investment, environment, and infrastructure, ensuring continued progress for both nations.
