Manama:Dr. Ali bin Mohamed Al Rumaihi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), highlighted the significance of the Royal Address delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the opening of the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives. He stated that the address sets a national roadmap for the future, emphasizing priorities such as safeguarding Bahrain's security, advancing sustainable development, and strengthening cooperation among constitutional authorities.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Rumaihi noted that His Majesty's call for substantive achievements in the current legislative session places a significant responsibility on the legislative authority to translate these aspirations into laws that meet the needs of citizens and support Bahrain's progress. Key priorities include modernizing economic legislation, enhancing investment competitiveness, expanding the knowledge economy, and supporting sustainability in energy, environment, and food and water security.
Dr. Al Rumaihi praised the Government's efforts, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in maintaining service continuity and addressing challenges such as the Iranian attacks. He also highlighted the King's appreciation for the defense and security forces' role in protecting Bahrain and their ongoing development.
The Chairman expressed that the King's declaration of June 1 as the "Day of Pledge and Loyalty" acknowledges the resilience and unity of the Bahraini people. Furthermore, the designation of the coming year as the "Year of Isa bin Salman" aims to honor the legacy of the late His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
The Royal Address reaffirmed the importance of Bahrain's security and stability in relation to its ties with the GCC and international partnerships. It also underscored Bahrain's role in promoting peace and dialogue, as demonstrated by its leadership in the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
Dr. Al Rumaihi emphasized the King's directive on proactive planning for Bahrain's future Economic Vision, ensuring it aligns with development and sustainability goals while reflecting citizens' aspirations. He noted that BIPD is committed to promoting constitutional awareness, political culture, and community participation, supporting responsible dialogue and social cohesion.
