Manama:Repton School has officially announced plans to open Repton Bahrain, marking the first-ever establishment of a UK independent school in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative is strategically designed to capitalize on Bahrain's economic prosperity, warm hospitality, and high living standards, factors which make it an attractive location for Repton's latest educational endeavor. The school will be positioned for convenient access from various parts of the Kingdom and Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province via the King Fahd Causeway.
The co-educational institution will cater to students aged three to 18 on a state-of-the-art 32,000 square-metre campus. It will feature world-class facilities, including digital classrooms, a specially-built sixth form centre, a six-lane swimming pool, an athletics track, and 4G sports pitches. The curriculum will focus on International GCSEs and A-Levels, paving the way for students to attend prestigious universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard, and Yale.
Repton Bahrain joins the expanding Repton Family of Schools as its thirteenth member. The announcement coincides with the twentieth anniversary of Repton Dubai, the first UK independent school opened by Repton overseas. The Repton network now spans three continents and four time zones, educating 11,000 pupils globally.
The unveiling took place during the Gateway Gulf forum, hosted by the Bahrain Economic Development Board at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay. The agreement was signed by Mark Semmence, Headmaster of Repton UK, and Chairman of Repton Family of Schools, alongside His Excellency Ali Alromaihi, and Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat, Managing Partner of Daylight Advisory.
Semmence expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Education and the Economic Development Board for their support, emphasizing Repton Bahrain's commitment to local culture and traditions while maintaining the school's global educational standards. Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat highlighted Repton's contribution to enhancing teaching methods and educational quality in Bahrain, particularly through its STEM programme, and its role in fostering competition among schools in the Kingdom.
Students at Repton Bahrain will participate in global exchanges, have access to international career experts, and benefit from virtual classrooms connecting the Repton Family of Schools, with opportunities to continue their education within the network if desired.
