Manama: Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) has signed a platinum sponsorship agreement with Singapore Gulf Bank (SGB), a leading international digital bank, further strengthening local and international partnerships in Bahrain's horseracing sector.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreement was signed by Yusuf Osama Buheji, CEO of REHC, and Shawn Chan, CEO of SGB. Under the multi-year sponsorship, SGB will support the Future Stars Series, a new competition dedicated to locally bred horses, set to launch in the 2024/2025 season. The series will feature six rounds across three race meetings and aims to encourage Bahraini stables and owners to invest in locally bred horses while enhancing competitiveness in local races.
Buheji highlighted the significant interest in Bahrain's horseracing sector and the role of REHC's international events in attracting sponsorships and partnerships. He welcomed the collaboration with SGB, noting that the bank's sponsorship would play a key role in the success of the Future Stars Series and the continued growth of Bahraini horseracing.
Chan stated that the partnership reflects SGB's commitment to community engagement and establishing a strong presence in Bahrain. As the first digital wholesale bank in the Kingdom, SGB aims to build partnerships that contribute to the development of key sectors and major sporting events.
He noted that Bahrain's horseracing industry has seen significant growth and holds great potential, motivating SGB to support its continued expansion. He also highlighted the sport's widespread popularity in Bahrain and its increasing international recognition, reinforcing the Kingdom's position in global horseracing.
