Public Security Chief receives US Congress delegation

Chief of Public Security Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan has received today a US Congress delegation, on a visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training Affairs, Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Assistant Undersecretary for Planning and Organisation, Col. Mohammed Al-Haram, attended.

Lt-Gen. Al Hassan welcomed the guests, highlighting the importance of such visits and meetings in reinforcing ties between the two friendly countries.

He briefed the US officials on the Interior Ministry efforts to promote security and safety and highlighted the directives of the Interior Minister to protect security and stability through training, hi-tech equipment and experiences of developed countries.

He informed the delegation of the development of the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre programmes to provide the best services for inmates as part of the reinforcement of human rights principles.

He also highlighted efforts to implement the alternative penalties law and the Interior Ministry’s human rights training courses and curricula.

The two sides discussed security cooperation and coordination, reinforcement of bilateral ties and topics of common interest.
