Manama: The Public Prosecution's Equal Opportunities Committee held its second regular meeting of 2026, chaired by Advisor Haroon Othman Al Zayani, Senior Advocate General and Head of the Technical Office of the Attorney General. The committee reviewed progress in implementing its 2025-2026 plan, which includes initiatives to promote equal opportunities, support a fair and equitable work environment, raise awareness, and ensure the sustainability of efforts to advance women and provide the necessary support.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the committee reviewed the initiatives implemented to date, including educational activities for male and female law students on judicial work. As part of the programme, an open day was organised at the courts in coordination with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council to introduce students to judicial procedures and court operations.
The Public Prosecution also organised an introductory event on its role and responsibilities under the law to enhance students' understanding, develop their skills in evidence assessment and legal drafting, and provide practical field experience to support their future legal and professional development.
The committee also completed coordination for its initiative to organise a GCC forum on the role of women in the judiciary, scheduled for the end of November 2026 as a GCC forum on women and justice, focusing on women's role in the judicial system.
The committee also reviewed the implementation of its ongoing development and training plans in areas related to its work and completed the coordination procedures for its remaining initiatives, which are in their final stages and are scheduled to launch and be implemented during the current year.
