Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, engaged in a telephone conversation with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, to address pressing regional developments and the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. The dialogue underscored the mutual concerns and collaborative efforts in the face of recent security challenges.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Zayani conveyed Bahrain's strong condemnation of the drone attack that targeted two floating natural gas processing and storage vessels at Damietta Port in northern Egypt. The incident, which led to fires on both vessels, was labeled as a severe breach of international law and a significant threat to regional security, stability, and global energy supplies. The attack was branded a dangerous escalation that necessitates an immediate and unified response.
Dr. Al Zayani reiterated Bahrain's complete solidarity with Egypt, supporting all legitimate actions taken to defend its sovereignty, national security, and critical infrastructure. He acknowledged Egypt's unwavering support for Bahrain and lauded its pivotal role in fostering Arab unity and protecting Arab national security.
In response, Dr. Abdelatty expressed gratitude for Bahrain's genuine solidarity and reaffirmed Egypt's denunciation of the hostile Iranian attacks on Bahrain. He emphasized Egypt's comprehensive support for Bahrain's measures to maintain its sovereignty, security, and stability. Dr. Abdelatty highlighted that the security of Arab nations is intrinsically linked to Egypt's national security.
The conversation also covered strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination across various sectors.
