Manama: Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, called for the adoption of a comprehensive and integrated plan for the reconstruction of Gaza without the displacement of Palestinians. The announcement was made during the extraordinary Arab League Summit convened today in Egypt's Administrative Capital.
According to Bahrain News Agency, President El Sisi stated that Egypt, in coordination with Palestine and international institutions, has developed an integrated reconstruction plan that begins with urgent humanitarian relief and early recovery efforts, leading to the full rebuilding of Gaza. El-Sisi emphasised that the plan seeks to uphold the Palestinian people's right to rebuild their homeland and prevent forced displacement, urging regional and international support.
The Egyptian President also highlighted the necessity of a parallel political and security track to accompany the reconstruction efforts, with the participation of regional countries and the backing of the international community. El-Sisi stressed the importance of achieving a just, comprehensive, and sustainable resolution to the Palestinian cause, calling on other countries to contribute to this process and actively participate in the reconstruction conference Egypt will host next month.
President El Sisi said that the situation in Gaza threatens regional security and stability, stating that continued attacks have devastated civilian lives and infrastructure while attempting to forcibly displace Palestinians. El-Sisi emphasised Egypt's rejection of any such displacement, reiterating Egypt's commitment to Palestinian rights.
El-Sisi underlined Egypt's commitment to a peace process founded on justice and rights, noting that since the first day of the war on Gaza, Egypt has worked with Qatar and the United States to secure a ceasefire. El-Sisi also said that Egypt is working to establish a temporary Palestinian administrative committee to oversee relief operations and manage the Gaza Strip in preparation for the return of the Palestinian Authority.
President El Sisi called for strong Arab support for the Palestinian cause amid ongoing hostilities against the Palestinian people. El-Sisi reiterated that any political settlement must lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through a comprehensive resolution based on international legitimacy.
