PDRC Workshop Focuses on Enhancing Inspection Mechanisms for Child Centres.

Manama: The Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC) recently conducted a workshop aimed at refining inspection mechanisms for child centres, facilitated by international child experts Paula Jack and Stephen Burnside. This initiative is part of the commission's ongoing efforts to improve the oversight of facilities that accommodate vulnerable groups such as children and young detainees. According to Bahrain News Agency, the workshop served as a platform to discuss and review international standards and obligations concerning children's complaints and the methods for addressing them. Participants explored effective practices for communicating with children, which is crucial for understanding their living, social, and psychological conditions in various facilities. These discussions are particularly important for centres where children may be placed under the criminal justice system or within social care services.
