Manama: A delegation of the parliamentary group participated in a virtual seminar organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) on launching the IPU guidelines on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in parliaments. The session highlighted global legislative efforts and advancements in employing modern technologies and AI in parliamentary work. According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation included Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council, Lawyer Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, Chairperson of the Shura Council Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee, Hassan Ebrahim Hassan, Member of the Council of Representatives, and several members of the secretariats of both councils. Participants raised questions regarding AI's role in digital transformation. The seminar showcased experiences from various parliaments and legislative councils around the world in utilising AI to enhance parliaments and legislative processes, improve efficiency and better serve citizens. Key challenges and risks associated wi th AI adoption were also discussed. The IPU's guidelines for AI in the parliament provide strategic advice and practical insights to help legislative bodies utilise AI responsibly and effectively, promoting innovation and efficiency in the legislative process.
