Manama: Over 5,000 students have benefited from a national awareness campaign organized by Skills Bahrain, in partnership with the Ministry of Education. The initiative, under the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), concluded its first phase aimed at educating secondary school students about future job prospects and the specializations most in demand in Bahrain's labour market. The campaign included a series of interactive sessions across all governorates of the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the initiative supports students in making informed academic and career decisions by providing essential insights and guidance on key economic sectors, high-demand occupations, and the educational pathways leading to them. These insights are disseminated through the Employability Skills Portal (www.esp.bh), which serves as a national reference point offering students and parents data-driven information on emerging jobs, labour market trends, and related career pathways. The portal includes interactive dashboards covering workforce data across key sectors, salary ranges, academic specializations, and a comprehensive directory of universities and educational institutions.
The campaign engaged more than 5,000 male and female students from 38 public schools, allowing them to explore future labour market trends and understand how these insights can guide their academic and career choices in alignment with national development requirements.
Ibrahim Ali Al Burshaid, Assistant Undersecretary for Education at the Ministry of Education, commented on the initiative, stating that the joint campaign reflects the Ministry's commitment to raising students' awareness of labour market requirements and empowering them to plan early for their future careers. Through strategic partnerships with national entities, including Skills Bahrain, the Ministry is working to prepare students for fields and skills that align with Bahrain's development priorities.
Amer Marhoon, Managing Director of Skills Bahrain, added that the importance of providing students and parents with reliable information supports thoughtful academic and career planning. The collaboration with the Ministry of Education is a key step in reinforcing the value of aligning students' interests with labour market needs, helping them understand their aspirations while contributing to the competitiveness of Bahrain's economy.
Skills Bahrain is an initiative under the Labor Fund "Tamkeen" that seeks to address the skills gap of local talent resulting from constant changes and development in the global labor market. It works closely with employers, education and training providers, and government stakeholders to bridge the skills gap by providing necessary intelligence, sector-specific data, and tools. The initiative contributes to the transition from education to employment, providing a clear path towards career development and developing skilled and globally competitive Bahraini talent.
