Oil Minister Hails Bahrain Mangrove Initiative.

Manama: Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, commended the launch of the Bahrain Mangrove Initiative by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The initiative aims to enhance Bahrain's environmental sustainability efforts by increasing mangrove coverage fourfold by 2035, aligning with the Kingdom's climate goals under international agreements. According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister highlighted the initiative's role in supporting Bahrain's commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. He emphasised the importance of such projects in reducing carbon emissions, protecting coastal areas, improving water quality, and fostering marine biodiversity. Dr. Bin Daina praised His Highness Shaikh Mohammed's leadership in advancing sustainable development, reflecting Bahrain's dedication to tackling climate challenges and preserving the environment for future generations. He stressed the need to raise instituti onal and community awareness of mangrove conservation and to encourage practices that strengthen national responsibility and partnerships. The initiative, which integrates local and global expertise, aims to position Bahrain as a leader in sustainable environmental practices, ensuring long-term ecological and economic benefits.
