Northern Governor Launches Summer Programme for Autistic Children

Manama: Ali bin Al Shaikh Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, Northern Governor, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Bahrain Society for Children with Behavioral and Communication Difficulties. The meeting discussed cooperation on organising a summer programme for individuals with autism spectrum disorder. The programme is expected to be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Social Development, supervised by the Society and parents, with the participation of volunteers and the Paramedic Academy, as part of the Healthy Governorate Accreditation Programme.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Asfoor emphasised that caring for and empowering individuals with autism spectrum disorder is part of the governorate's commitment to supporting people with special needs and promoting community partnerships that benefit everyone. He underlined the importance of continuing high-quality programmes that meet families' aspirations and contribute to building the participants' abilities in an inclusive and safe environment. The programme is scheduled to launch on July 19, and will run for three weeks, featuring diverse activities aimed at integrating individuals with autism spectrum disorder into society and enhancing their behavioural and social skills in a safe and supportive environment.

The Chairman appreciated the Northern Governorate's continuous support for this group over the past eight years, commending its efforts to achieve community partnership and promote the principles of inclusion for people with determination.
