Geneva: The National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR), represented by its Chairman Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, took part in the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of National Institutions for Human Rights (GANHRI) at the Palais des Nations in Geneva. The assembly, attended by over 250 representatives from national human rights institutions, UN agencies, and civil society organisations, focused on adopting decisions for 2024 and ratifying new memberships.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the General Assembly reviewed and approved the financial report and audited the final accounts. It also presented the proposed budget for 2025. A summary of the Alliance's achievements from the past year was shared, alongside an overview of the activities of the four regional networks.
The event coincided with the session of the UN Human Rights Council and was organized in partnership with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The meeting featured a series of sessions and the annual conference, during which the action plan for the upcoming year was reviewed and endorsed.
