NIHR Opens Nominations for Board of Commissioners

Manama: The selection committee for members of the Board of Commissioners of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has announced the opening of nominations for board membership.

According to Bahrain News Agency, applications will be accepted from Tuesday, May 27, until Tuesday, June 10, and should be submitted via email to: [email protected], accompanied by an updated CV and supporting documents. The eligibility criteria for candidates are outlined under Law (26) of 2014 on the establishment of the NIHR and Royal Order (17) of 2017 concerning the appointment criteria for board members.

Candidates for both full-time and part-time membership must be citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain, at least 30 years of age, and must demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to human rights, with a record of contributions in the field. They should also be of good character and reputation and hold an academic qualification.

For full-time membership, additional requirements include not being engaged in any other job or profession during the membership term, holding an advanced academic qualification, and being proficient in one of the official United Nations languages, in addition to Arabic. The selection process aims to ensure fair representation across all segments of society, with particular attention to the representation of women and minorities, and professionals in law, human rights, and other relevant fields.
