NIHR Engages in Child Rights Workshop in Jordan

Amman: A delegation from the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), led by Dr. Shaima Abdullah Mohammed, NIHR Commissioner, took part in a regional workshop in Jordan. The workshop was organized by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for their regional offices in the Middle East and North Africa.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Shaima shared the NIHR's initiatives in promoting and safeguarding children's rights. Her presentation encompassed the establishment of the institution, its legal framework, mandated responsibilities, and the strategy and action plan for 2024 - 2025. She highlighted several initiatives, including the first annual forum for Bahraini children, titled "You Have the Right You Have a Voice," and the participation in the Child Rights Commissioner's Friends Group. Additionally, she emphasized efforts to strengthen collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

The workshop's objective was to enhance coordination, facilitate knowledge exchange, and develop joint strategic plans to advance and protect children's rights.
