NCC chief stresses media institutions’ professional role, contributions to Bahrain’s progress

Chief Executive Officer of the National Communication Centre (NCC), Yousif Mohammed Al-Binkhalil, has affirmed the professional role played by Bahrain’s media institutions through undertaking their national tasks with responsibility in order to contribute to the kingdom’s progress march, thanks to the unlimited support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and interest of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Al-Binkhalil expressed pride in HM King Hamad’s message marking the World Press Freedom Day, observed worldwide every May 3.

NCC chief asserted that Bahraini press institutions have succeeded in launching initiatives that keep pace with digital transformation, noting that what distinguishes the Bahraini press experience is the spirit of ethical responsibility in practising the profession, which motivates national press and media personnel to continue undertaking their role in the national action march as effective partners in advancing the kingdom’s development process.

NCC Chief Executive Officer indicated that the growing involvement of the press and media institutions in the digital field has provided them with promising opportunities to expand their audience base, and thus increase the volume of media influence, which is the role envisaged by the media to be interactive with the digital technology requirements of measures to preserve the flow of information and privacy.

He indicated that Bahrain boasts a package of legislation and administrative procedures that enables newspapers and media outlets to play their role freely, responsibly and independently, adding that the existing laws and legislation ensure protection for press and media institutions while practising the profession from challenges, particularly those related to cybersecurity, as well as protection of data, information and privacy.

Al-Binkhalil added that press freedom is the cornerstone of the democratic process in the Kingdom, which embodies the continuous royal support for the press and media institutions and personnel, who are part of Team Bahrain.

He commended the role played by the press and media institutions in the kingdom during the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic and the recovery phase, noting that they have contributed to highlighting national goals and sustainable development projects.

The CEO of the National Communication Centre explained that Bahrain’s press and media institutions present a modern and advanced message through their national platforms and commitment to the kingdom’s identity and deep-rooted values, which makes them keep pace with modern changes and modern media trends.

He affirmed that everyone is proud of the march of the national press for its continuous contributions to the comprehensive development process and the future of the Kingdom and its people.
