‘Municipalities Ministry and NIAD Collaborate to Boost Agricultural Entrepreneurship

Manama: The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, along with the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance agricultural entrepreneurship in the Kingdom. This agreement aims to implement specialized training programs that will contribute to sustainable agricultural development and enhance food security.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU establishes a framework for training community members in modern agricultural methods. This initiative is designed to enable individuals to establish and manage successful agricultural projects that bolster the national economy. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, emphasized that the MoU is part of an ongoing partnership to develop the agricultural sector in accordance with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's vision and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The minister stated that the ministry seeks to strengthen national partnerships to enhance the agricultural sector and improve the efficiency of national cadres through specialized training programs that align with current trends in agriculture and food production. He also highlighted the support provided to the agricultural sector by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, emphasizing the role of human capital investment in achieving sustainable agricultural development. Supporting entrepreneurs in creating innovative and productive agricultural projects is crucial for enhancing food security and generating quality opportunities for the national economy.

The partnership between the ministry and NIAD has already garnered recognition, as evidenced by their recent win of the Arab Government Excellence Award for the "National Programme for Empowering Communities through Agricultural Training" project. This award reflects Bahrain's commitment to supporting its farmers.

Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, acknowledged the support and directives from the Kingdom's leadership, noting how these efforts have been reflected in practical programs that support the agricultural sector. She affirmed that the MoU is a significant step towards unifying efforts and exchanging expertise, which will help prepare entrepreneurs with the necessary skills and knowledge for managing sustainable agricultural projects.

Shaikha Maram bint Isa further explained that the forthcoming training programs will adopt modern scientific and practical methods, focusing on enhancing participants' technical and administrative skills. This approach aims to transform agricultural projects into productive ventures with added value, supporting the Kingdom's development goals.
