Municipalities Ministry Allocates Agricultural Plots to Bahraini Farmers in Buri

Manama: The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture has signed agreements to allocate 12 agricultural plots to Bahraini farmers in Buri, covering a total area of 81,996.93 square metres. This initiative is part of the Ministry's efforts to enhance food security and support local farmers.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the agreements were signed by Asim Abdulatif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Wealth Affairs, with 12 Bahraini farmers. Each plot, ranging between 6,000 and 8,000 square metres, was allocated through a public tender via the Government Land Investment Platform, exclusively for Bahraini farmers. The contracts are set for a duration of 10 years and include a one-year grace period for the establishment of agricultural facilities.

The ministry stated that this initiative is part of its strategy to expand sustainable agricultural activity, increase local production, and improve efficiency. Technical and advisory support will be provided through specialised agricultural supervision teams. Additionally, the ministry is completing core infrastructure works, including extending main irrigation networks to all allocated plots.

The signing ceremony was attended by Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD). The ministry had recently allocated six agricultural plots in Hoorat A'ali, covering 40,138.20 square metres, as part of ongoing efforts to support the agricultural sector and strengthen food security.
