Municipalities and Health Ministries Step Up Field Measures to Curb Mosquito Spread in Bahrain

Manama: The Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and the Ministry of Health stated that they are stepping up joint action to tackle mosquito spread across the Kingdom of Bahrain, following Cabinet directives for urgent measures to protect public health.

According to Bahrain News Agency, municipal teams in the Capital, Muharraq, Northern, and Southern areas have begun intensified water removal, pest control, and field monitoring. Plans include clearing standing water from open areas, cleaning surrounding sites, removing waste that can collect water, and cutting weeds that provide breeding grounds.

Officials are carrying out regular inspections to monitor progress and improve coordination. The Municipalities Ministry urged the public to follow waste disposal rules and report standing water or cleanliness issues via (80008188).

The Health Ministry is continuing coordinated efforts to control mosquitoes, especially during conditions that increase breeding. Measures include intensified field work to detect and eliminate breeding sites.

It noted mosquito activity rises with rainfall, standing water and moderate temperatures and humidity, and called on residents to remove stagnant water from containers, tyres, and drains, and dispose of waste properly.

Requests for inspections and spraying services can be placed by calling (80008100) between 7:30am and 3:00pm, Sunday to Thursday.
