MP Dr. Hisham Al Ashiri Engages in Legislative Affairs Committee Meeting of Arab Parliament

Cairo: MP Dr. Hisham Al Ashiri, a member of the Arab Parliament, participated in a meeting of the Arab Parliament's Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs Committee. The meeting was held in Cairo, as part of the general session of the Arab Parliament.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Al Ashiri commended the patronage provided by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as well as the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the Ashura season in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He noted that this reflects the civilised approach rooted in the comprehensive reform project established by His Majesty the King, which emphasises respect for sectarian and religious diversity and the promotion of values such as tolerance, coexistence, and openness.

Dr. Al Ashiri highlighted that annual royal directives to mobilise resources and provide support from official, security, and service authorities ensure that religious observances take place in a safe and organised environment. He said this demonstrates Bahrain as a model for safeguarding religious freedoms and reinforcing national unity and mutual respect among all segments of society.

He explained that the committee reviewed the implementation of recommendations from its previous meeting held on April 20. He said the committee also discussed the final draft of a project law on illegal migration in the Arab world, as well as the initial draft of an Arab parliamentary vision for consumer protection amid globalisation and increasing challenges.

Dr. Al Ashiri added that the committee considered a memorandum from the General Secretariat regarding decisions of the Council of the League of Arab States issued during the 34th Arab Summit, held in the Republic of Iraq on May 18. Both legislative and humanitarian perspectives were included in the discussions.
