MP Ahmed Qarata Attends Bahrain-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Committee

Manama: MP Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and Chairman of the Bahrain-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Committee, confirmed full support for developing and enhancing all areas of cooperation between Bahrain and Pakistan. These include economic, commercial, educational, health, and parliamentary diplomacy sectors, based on the distinguished bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

According to Bahrain News Agency, this came during a meeting between members of the Bahrain-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Committee, attended by MP Ahmed Qarata as head of the delegation, and the Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly. The visit took place from 21 to 25 September.

Also attending were MPs Mahmoud Mirza Fardan, Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee; Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Affairs; MP Mohammed Hussain Janahi, MP Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Showaikh, and MP Bader Saleh Al Tamimi.

He emphasised the importance of activating parliamentary friendship groups and expanding regional parliamentary cooperation, reflecting the Kingdom's active role in Asian and international parliamentary forums. He highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for communication and collaboration among Asian peoples.

Qarata noted the Council of Representatives' efforts to support institutional partnerships and benefit from regional and international parliamentary experiences, following the guidance of Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives. The goal is to advance parliamentary and institutional work and advance the Council's role in supporting national development and defending national interests.

He commended the role of both Bahrain's Council of Representatives and Pakistan's National Assembly in enhancing the longstanding relations between the two countries since diplomatic ties began in 1971. He highlighted ongoing cooperation and progress across all fields and continuous efforts by the Shura and Council of Representatives of Bahrain and Pakistan's Senate and National Assembly to develop constructive cooperation and coordination in all regional and international parliamentary forums.

On their part, the Pakistani parliamentary delegation expressed pride in the strong Bahrain-Pakistan ties and advanced cooperation in all domains. They commended the Kingdom's role in supporting international peace and security, and promoting coexistence, tolerance, solidarity, and unity among Islamic countries and peoples. Pakistan looks forward to further cooperation with Bahrain for the mutual benefit of both countries and peoples.
