Morocco and France Strengthen Legislative Ties with New Cooperation Protocol

Rabat: Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco, and Yaël Braun-Pivet, President of the National Assembly of the French Republic, have signed a parliamentary cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing bilateral relations. The agreement, signed in Rabat, focuses on fostering equality, trust, and reciprocity, and aims to revitalize the France-Morocco Interparliamentary Forum. According to Bahrain News Agency, the protocol outlines a commitment from both parties to engage in mutual consultations during meetings of international parliamentary organizations where both assemblies are members. It also emphasizes the importance of cooperation among member assemblies of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF). The partnership includes plans for exchanges of experience and information, study missions, internships, and a variety of conferences and workshops on significant bilateral or international issues. These events will be organized alternately by each assembly. Technical exchanges will address legal and legislative expertise, parliamentary diplomacy, oversight, administration, and the use of information and communication technologies. The cooperation protocol also aims at implementing an electronic parliament system and enhancing parliamentary communication and relations with civil society. Moreover, the agreement includes provisions for joint efforts on modernizing parliamentary activities and collaborating on training programs for officials from both the French National Assembly and the Moroccan House of Representatives.
