Minister of Oil patronises 7th LEWAS 2021 ceremony

Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa  inaugurated the distribution ceremony of the 7th Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS 2021) at the Gulf Hotel today.

 

The event aimed to honor the leading women in the field of energy for their excellence in their work, initiatives and the remarkable level they achieved during their work in accordance with international regional standards.

 

It also aims to improve the reality of women in the Middle East and the GCC countries in order to contribute in promoting the principle of equal opportunities to ensure competitiveness and ensure the multiplicity and diversity of options available for women at the economic and social levels.

The minister praised the continuation of the activities of “LEWAS” for the seventh time, which confirms the care and support enjoyed by the women in the Kingdom of Bahrain by H.M. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

 

He commended the role of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamed Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, paying tribute to   H.R.H. Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM King, President of the Supreme Council for Women, for the efforts aimed to empower Bahraini women in all fields and to truly reflect the extent of faith in their abilities and capabilities in all fields, especially in the sector of energy.

 

He noted the achievements of Bahraini women in the oil, gas and energy sector, which was a success story that embodies the spirit of perseverance and qualities of efficiency and creativity, which qualified them to be an active and influential partner in the development of the sector.

 

He said that honoring women during the annual LEWAS events in the Middle East and the GCC countries  represents is a good opportunity to spread the culture of leadership excellence for women and encourage innovation, leadership, achievement and talent in academia and the commercial and industrial sectors in the field of oil, gas, bioenergy and renewable energy.

 

He stressed the importance of the award in promoting participating in research, lectures and specialized studies for the development of women in the fields of science, engineering and energy.

 

He congratulated the winners from various companies and institutions from the Middle East and GCC countries for this year 2021 for their great quality achievements that directly contributed to the development strides in their countries in the oil industry.

 

He praised the Forum Committee and the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards (LEWAS 2021) headed by Reem Al Ghanim, for the tireless efforts made by the team members in preparing for these awards, wishing all the best and success to every creative and distinguished women.

 

For her part, Al Ghanim, President of LEWAS 2021, expressed her thanks and appreciation to  the Minister of Oil for supporting all events of the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards since its inception.

 

“Despite the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic more than 18 months ago, the industry is gaining momentuom again through its employees and the values they possess and determination to turn every weakness into opportunities for strength and creativity”, she said.

 

She praised the jury’s efforts in evaluating, reviewing and scrutinizing all candidates who qualified for the 2021 finalists with the participation of more than 150 leading women’s figures from various companies and institutions such as Saudi Aramco, Bapco, ADNOC, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Schneider Electric, the University of Bahrain and other institutions.

 

The Minister of Oil Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and LEWAS 2021 President,  Faisal Al-Hajji and Ezz Al Mannai honored the winners of the seven categories in accordance with the jury’s decision:

 

Academic Achievement of the Student Award:

  • Reem Aseeri – Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University
  • Lina Al-Zayer – University of Bahrain

 

Academic Achievement of the University Professor’s Award:

  • Dr. Hayat Abdulla Yousif – University of Bahrain

 

Rising Star Award:

  • Zainab Hussein Al Ali – Saudi Aramco

 

Leadership Award for Excellence:

  • Dr. Amani Hassan Mashrah – Saudi Aramco

 

Lady of Achievement Award:

  • Basma Al Zain – University of Business and Technology
  • Salma Al Hajri – Mubadala Petroleum
  • May Al Issa – Kuwait International Petroleum Company
  • Nadia Al Zebot – Kuwait Oil Company

 

Men’s Excellence Award:

  • Dr. Dawood Nassif
  • Rashid Jouda Al Fadhili – Kuwait National Petroleum Company

 

Institutional Excellence Award:

  • ADNOC Group

 

The events of the Leadership Excellence for Women Awards and Symposium (LEWAS 2021) will be inaugurated on November 23 under the patronage of the Minister of Oil.

 

A range of topics will be discussed, such as leadership in an unstable economy, the future of work, and beyond energy: how we can be more sustainable, how leaders can ease tensions and reactivate the workforce after the pandemic.

 

The event is supported by a number of local and regional companies and associations such as Bapco, Saudi Aramco, the Petroleum Engineers Association.
