Minister of Foreign Affairs Hosts Chinese Special Envoy to Discuss Regional Security


Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Zhai Jun, the Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue, at the Ministry’s headquarters during his visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.



According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the longstanding and close relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the People’s Republic of China. The discussions included recent developments in the region, notably the ongoing Iranian attacks on Bahrain and other GCC member states, which have led to human and material losses. The implications of these actions on regional security and stability, energy security, maritime navigation, and international trade were also addressed.



The two sides explored opportunities for joint cooperation and coordination between Bahrain and China, particularly in the context of their membership in the United Nations Security Council. The aim is to address regional and international issues being discussed by the Council, with an emphasis on preserving international peace and security.



The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director-General of Bilateral Relations; Ambassador Saeed Abdulkhaleq Saeed, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Sector; and Ambassador Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Acting Head of the Asian Affairs Sector at the Ministry.
