LMRA Hosts US Congress Delegation at Expatriate Protection Centre

Manama: The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) recently welcomed a delegation from the United States Congress at the Expatriate Protection Centre. The visit included representatives from the US Department of State.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation was updated on Bahrain's ongoing efforts to enhance a stable work environment and protect the rights of all involved parties. Highlights of the briefing included the Kingdom's initiatives such as the Wage Protection System (WPS) and the Regional Centre of Excellence and Capacity Building for Combating Trafficking in Persons (RCoE).

The delegation also learned about the Expatriate Protection Centre's role in providing essential services such as preventive support, legal guidance, and shelter for victims or those at potential risk. The Centre is integral to the national framework against human trafficking, acting as the first point of contact for identifying and detecting signs of trafficking and exploitation in the workplace.
