Labour Minister visits Lulu Group Bahrain

Labour Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has paid a visit to the Lulu Group Bahrain, one of the contributors to the success of the employment initiative.

The employment initiative is part of the National Labour Market Plan 2021 – 2023, included under the priority of creating promising job opportunities for the citizens and making them the first option at the labour market.

The plan aims to employ 20,000 Bahrainis and train 10,000 annually until 2024, as part of the Economic Recovery Plan.

During the visit, the minister met Lulu Group Regional Director, Juzer Rupawala, and was briefed about the company’s efforts and strategy to attract Bahraini competencies.

The company currently employs 1,000 Bahrainis, or 30% of its staff. It also recruited 750 Bahraini nationals in 2021 and 2022, and employs 15 Bahraini people with special needs as part-timers.

The minister expressed thanks to the Lulu Group for its efforts to increase its Bahrainisation rates, paying tribute to Bahrainis who have joined the private sector in order to contribute to the kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

He stressed the importance of highlighting the success stories of business owners and Bahraini youths, commending the role played by the private sector in supporting the Labour Ministry’s employment programmes.

He stressed the importance of continuing to launch initiatives aimed at employing Bahrainis and granting privileges to private establishments that voluntarily hire Bahraini workers.

Juzer Rupawala asserted that the government’s support for the private sector and its establishments contributes to their growth, and motivates them to attract more national cadres.

He added that the company is keen to give priority to local workers because of their success and professionalism, unveiling plans to recruit more Bahrainis at the company’s administrative positions.
