Doha, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Minister of Labour, participated in the Doha Dialogue on Labour Mobility between Gulf and African Countries, held in Qatar on May 21-22.
Labour ministers from the GCC countries, Jordan, Lebanon and representatives of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), participated in the dialogue.
The minister reviewed Bahrain’s initiatives to enhance the protection of workers’ rights, such as the Wages Protection System, in addition to applying all Labour Law principles, including freedom of association and social protection, to all private sector workers.
He pointed out that the kingdom has dedicated a comprehensive center for safeguarding and assisting the workforce, offering preventive, guidance, and legal services. Bahrain has maintained its Tier-1 status in the US Department of State’s 2023 Trafficking in Persons (TiP) Report for the sixth consecutive year.
The participants adopted the “Doha Declaration,” highlig
hting the significance of ongoing cooperation among Doha Dialogue member countries. The declaration outlined key principles to safeguard workforce rights and recommended implementing technical solutions for labour market management enhancement. It also promoted the exchange of expertise and successful practices among member states to improve workforce mobility organisation.
