Manama: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait summoned Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Totonchi and handed him a formal note of protest over Iran's attack on the Kuwaiti tanker Keifan while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, which injured several crew members.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Hamad Al Mashaan, Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the attack came amid Iran's continuing aggression against Kuwait, as well as inflammatory and provocative statements issued by the Iranian side.
He emphasized that the attack constitutes a violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests, as well as a threat to the security and freedom of international navigation. Al Mashaan noted that it also breaches international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).
Al Mashaan reiterated Kuwait's demand for Iran to immediately cease its unlawful attacks, stressing that Kuwait reserves the right to take necessary measures and holds Iran fully accountable for the attack and its ongoing aggression against the State of Kuwait.
