Manama:His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa inaugurated the fifth session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives. The event was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The ceremony commenced with the national anthem followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran.
According to Bahrain News Agency, King Hamad delivered a Royal Address emphasizing national unity and the importance of advancing Bahrain's legislative framework to ensure stability and development. He highlighted the need for a unified approach to regional security challenges, including threats from Iran, and called for efforts to ensure peace and security in the region.
The King praised the government's efforts, led by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, in maintaining service quality and managing economic stability. He expressed gratitude to Bahrain's defense and security forces for their vigilance and effectiveness in safeguarding the nation. The King announced that June 1st would be observed annually as "Day of Pledge and Loyalty" to honor the people's dedication and love for the country.
The Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, expressed gratitude to the King for his support of the legislative authority, emphasizing the importance of cooperative efforts between the executive and legislative branches. He condemned attacks by Houthi militias in Saudi Arabia and expressed appreciation for the support from the United Arab Emirates.
The Speaker also noted the significance of regional diplomacy and Bahrain's role in international forums, highlighting the adoption of a United Nations Security Council resolution led by Bahrain. He stressed the legislative term's focus on modernizing economic legislation, supporting sustainable development, and ensuring national security.
The Speaker commended the advancement of Bahraini women and the contributions of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in youth and sports. On regional matters, he reiterated Bahrain's support for Palestinian statehood and regional peace efforts.
The session concluded with a commitment to translating national priorities into action and ensuring Bahrain's continued prosperity under the King's leadership.
