Cascais: Abdulla Al Mannai, Executive Director of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, participated in the Group of Friends High-Level meeting, held as part of the 10th Global Forum for the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) in Cascais, Portugal, under the theme ‘United in Peace: Restoring Trust, Reshaping the Future’.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Mannai emphasised Bahrain’s continued commitment to promoting the values of coexistence, peace, and dialogue among religions, cultures, and civilisations. This reflects the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
In his speech, Al Mannai highlighted the centre’s initiatives to foster dialogue and communication among religions, civilisations, and beliefs. He emphasised the centre’s dedication to implementing educational programmes and initiatives that instill values of peaceful coexistence in y
oung people and enable future generations to contribute to a safer, more harmonious world.
The forum was attended by His Excellency Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic; António Guterres, Secretary General of the UN; and Miguel Angel Moratinos, UNAOC High Representative, along with representatives of governments and international organisations. The forum adopted an ambitious UNAOC declaration and hosted discussions and events focused on promoting dialogue and understanding among cultures and religions, combating hatred and misinformation, and upholding shared human values.
The next UNAOC Global Forum is scheduled to be hosted by Saudi Arabia in 2026.
