Justice Minister: Bahrain will remain beacon of religious freedom

Justice and Islamic Affairs Minister, Nawaf bin Mohammed Al-Maawda, has lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s patronage of this year’s Ashura Commemoration.

He also commended the efforts of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to make sure that the Ashura Commemoration is held smoothly, embodying the royal vision of ensuring that rituals are performed freely and easily.

While holding a meeting with the Jaffari Endowments Council and heads of ma’atams (community centres) and Hussainiyas from various governorates, the minister expressed thanks and appreciation to all those who contributed to Ashura Commemoration success.

He affirmed that the kingdom has been, and will remain a beacon of religious freedom, as it guarantees the exercise of religious rites for all, citing the efforts of the relevant ministries to put in place all success requirements for this year’s Ashura Commemoration.

He indicated that the meeting is a token of gratitude to the members of the Board of Directors of the Jaffari Endowments Directorate, scholars, heads of community centres, coordinators of processions and volunteers for the efforts they had exerted to ensure the success of Ashura Commemoration.

Chairman of the Jaffari Endowments Council, Yousif bin Saleh Al-Saleh, extended deepest thanks, appreciation and gratitude to HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their constant care and respect for all religious occasions, particularly Ashura.

He praised HM King Hamad’s annual gift on the Hijri New Year, out of the royal keenness to share the Ashura Commemoration with his loyal people, following in the footsteps of his grandparents and forefathers.

He also extended sincere thanks, appreciation and gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister for HRH’s directives to all ministries and government departments to meet all the needs of this year’s Ashura Commemoration, in a ways that reflects the prevailing principles of coexistence, pluralism and fraternity.

He also praised HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s remarks while meeting minister and senior officials.

Al-Saleh also commended the efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior to ensure security and protect national achievements, as well as those of the Justice Ministry to take care of houses of worship and various religious rituals.

He also paid tribute to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture for their distinguished services during Ashura Commemoration.

Al-Saleh also expressed pride in the high awareness and sense of responsibility of the community centres’ officials and all the participants in Ashura Commemoration.

The Justice Minister honoured the Jaffari Endowments Council Chairman for the remarkable role played by the Council in ensuring the success of the religious occasion.
