Amman: The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the Georgian Embassy in Jordan have agreed to establish a joint business council to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Hamdi Tabbaa, Chairperson of the JBA, highlighted the need to enhance trade and investment ties, noting the current modest volume of trade exchanges. Tabbaa emphasised the importance of building economic partnerships in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, health, energy, and shipping. He also underscored the role of the private sector in leveraging economic opportunities.
Archil Dzuliashvili, Georgian Ambassador to Jordan, affirmed his country's commitment to expanding investments, particularly in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, education, shipping, and tourism sectors. He noted that the establishment of a business council would strengthen economic relations and foster collaboration between private sector institutions in both countries.
Trade exchange between Jordan and Georgia totalled approximately $3 million in 2023, down from $8 million in 2022.
