Manama: The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) has featured the Shura Council's initiatives in its report titled Parliamentary Action on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which highlights legislative and procedural efforts related to AI across national parliaments.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the IPU report, published on its official website, reviewed parliamentary measures in 26 countries, including the Kingdom of Bahrain. Among the featured initiatives was a legislative proposal submitted by members of the Shura Council to regulate artificial intelligence technologies and their applications. The proposal was referred to the government during the twenty-eighth session of the second legislative term of the sixth parliamentary session.
The IPU also highlighted an initiative by the Shura Council's General Secretariat, which organised a discussion session titled Future trends, AI opportunities, and expanding the parliamentary role in addressing them. The session was part of the Council's parliamentary support programme and was held in collaboration with the HH Shaikh Nasser Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Centre (NAIRDC).
