Interior Ministry Confirms Safety Protocols at GPIC Facility Amid Restoration Efforts

Manama: The Ministry of Interior affirmed, in a media briefing broadcast on Bahrain Television, that all precautionary and preventive measures have been taken in preparation for the resumption of work on the second phase of technical repairs and the restoration of damage sustained by the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company facility due to the Iranian aggression.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministry emphasized the importance of reviewing the instructions and public safety procedures available on the National Civil Protection Platform at (https://www.ncpp.gov.bh/), particularly those related to ammonia gas leaks. As an added precaution for public safety, a 2-kilometre radius has been designated, which includes various institutions and facilities, as well as a portion of Block 619 residential area. Residents in the affected zone were informed about optional evacuation measures, with alternative temporary accommodation being provided.

All safety measures have been implemented to ensure that no materials leak in a manner that could pose harm to the public. The platform's published instructions emphasize the need for residents to move to a secure place inside their homes, remain in an internal room, and take steps such as closing windows and doors, turning off ventilation systems, and placing wet towels under doors and windows to prevent the entry of contaminated air.

Residents of the indicated area are urged to cooperate with the competent authorities and follow the issued instructions, which are primarily aimed at ensuring their safety. The ministry reiterated its commitment to taking all necessary precautions to safeguard the well-being of everyone involved.
