Bangkok: Major Abdullah Abdulwahab Salmeen, an athlete from the Ministry of Interior powerlifting team, has claimed first place in the under-140 kg Asian category at the World Powerlifting Championship for Professionals held in Thailand. In a remarkable feat, he also broke the Asian record in the 240 kg Bench Press and was crowned the Overall Champion of the event.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Brigadier Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, President of the Public Security Sports Association, expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, which he credited as a pivotal factor in the Ministry’s sporting accomplishments. He also acknowledged the diligent oversight of Lieutenant General Tariq Hassan Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, for the Ministry’s teams during their competitive engagements.
Brigadier Al Khayyat praised Major Salmeen’s achievement as a testament to the skill and preparedness of the ministry’s athletes, underscoring their dedication to attaining top results. This success, he noted, highlights the exceptional caliber of Bahraini sports on both local and international stages.
