Kuala lumpur: Abdullnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, met a Turkish parliamentary delegation on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Role of Parliaments in Shaping the Future of Responsible Artificial Intelligence, held in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mahdi Al Shuwaikh and Mohsen Al Asbool.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Salman emphasized Bahrain’s commitment to fostering parliamentary cooperation with the Republic of Trkiye and strengthening the long-established relations between the two nations. He highlighted the ongoing development of these relations, which are built on strong political and humanitarian foundations.
Salman pointed out the close coordination between the two parliaments, noting that recent reciprocal visits by the Speakers of both legislatures have bolstered mutual confidence and expanded collaboration. He mentioned the introductory visits Bahrain hosted for Turkish delegations, providing them with an opportunity to explore the Kingdom’s cultural and historical heritage.
Salman acknowledged Trkiye’s constructive role in regional matters and its support for the Palestinian cause. He stated that the alignment of positions between the two countries signifies a shared understanding of the importance of joint efforts to enhance regional stability and security.
He assured Bahrain’s full support for Trkiye’s preparations to host the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in April 2026. He highlighted Bahrain’s readiness to share its experience in organizing parliamentary events, following the successful hosting of the 146th IPU Assembly in Manama.
Members of the Turkish delegation expressed their appreciation for the strong relations with Bahrain and the positive spirit of cooperation. They also showed interest in increasing Bahrain’s participation in future parliamentary activities.
The delegation expressed a desire to expand cultural and social cooperation, noting the growing interest among Bahraini tourists in visiting Trkiye. They also expressed readiness to welcome more Bahraini delegations and organize programs to introduce Trkiye’s historical and cultural landmarks.
